Los Angeles - Mom's tour

Mom's been to LA many times in the 5ish years that I've lived here. But, the sun is out, so she still considers this a vacation. Some of the highlights included eating at one of our favorite restaurants, "Home", in Los Feliz. There's a back story as to why she enjoys it so much, and let's just say it included many free drinks and a tee shirt because the manager loved her so much. This didn't happen this time around. Mom looked for her girl, but she was not working that day, unfortunately.

We did enjoy happy hour drinks and appetizers at Perch LA, an awesome restaurant on the top of a building downtown with spectacular 360 views of the city. We also hit up The Last Bookstore, which has awesome tunnels of books and a $1 book section with the most random books you can imagine, as well as old VHS tapes, etc. Super fun to get lost in an aisle with a comfy chair and a book you can get lost reading and not actually have to pay for (shh).

Just a few blocks from the bookstore is the Observation Deck and LA City Hall. Go during the week between 8 am and 5 pm at viewing hours. I suggest making a fun day of going to Perch LA, checking out the sites there for lunch, and then walking a few blocks away to the Last Bookstore for some afternoon reading adventures, and then checking out the Observation Deck - winter time especially around 3:30-4ish when the sun starts setting. Knowing LA parking too, this is a way to get more bang for your buck and enjoy many close things for the day.
